“Obsession” meets “Off Campus” in Sombr‘s new music video for “My Body Isn’t Ready,” which stars Inde Navarrette and Josh Heuston.
The song, one of the young rocker’s most vulnerable to date, sees Sombr overcome by insecurities. “I like you but my body isn’t ready / I want you but the mirror won’t let me,” he sings on the chorus. In the video, he spots a pretty girl at a party (Navarrette) before he is driven out by a group of bullies (including Heuston and a card trick magician).
The 20-year-old singer-songwriter spends the rest of the video trying to hide. He even covers himself in paper mache and is carried around like a mannequin before Navarrette sees him for who he truly is and helps him break out of his shell — both literally and figuratively.
Born Shane Michael Boose, Sombr broke out in 2024 with the dreamy breakup ballad “Back to Friends.” His debut album “I Barely Know Her” turned him into a pop sensation, and this year he played Coachella and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and announced a five-month North American tour.
On Thursday night, Sombr will appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” as both a musical and interview guest. He is also gearing up to announce a surprise free concert in New York on Friday. Details on the show — such as where it will take place or how to RSVP — are still to come.
