Ne Zha 2 is taking over the world of animated movies!
The Chinese anime film was first released on January 29th in China, and debuted in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand on February 14th.
Following it’s debut, the movie has now become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, surpassing Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2.

The hit film is the follow up to 2019′s Ne Zha, which is based on the 16th-century novel “Investiture of the Gods” by Xu Zhonglin.
After the success of the first movie, the sequel was greenlit and the budget increasing, becoming China’s most expensive animated movie!
Here’s a synopsis for Ne Zha 2: After the heavenly lightning, although Ne Zha and Ao Bing survived by becoming Spirits, they would soon dissipate completely. Taiyi plans to rebuild Ne Zha and Ao Bing’s mortal bodies with the Seven-colored Precious Lotus. However, during the process of reconstruction, numerous obstacles arise. What will become of the fate of Ne Zha and Ao Bing? Let’s be in part of this laugh adventure!
It also currently has a 99% Popcornmeter audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it verified hot!
In it’s first 11 days, Ne Zha 2 became the highest grossing film in a single territory, passing Star Wars: The Force Awakens in North America.
