Wolverhampton is the centre of attention on Thursday night, with eight races scheduled on the all-weather, all live on Sky Sports Racing.
5.47 Wolverhampton – Exciting newcomers Pyramid and Bintward headline
Exciting newcomers Pyramid and Bintward headline a classy field of eight for the attheraces.com/marketmovers Maiden Stakes.
The Juddmonte-owned Kingman colt Pyramid has a fine pedigree, being related to the likes of Fingerpoint and Set Piece. With his trainers John and Thady Gosden arriving in red-hot form, he ought to go close under Rab Havlin.
Bintward cost a whopping €780,000 at the Deauville Arqana yearling sale and has been given plenty of time by his trainer Roger Varian. A daughter of Night Of Thunder, she is sure to be popular with Sean Dylan Bowen in the saddle.
Chimes Of Thunder rates the best of those with racecourse experience and William Haggas’ 76-rated filly will hope to put that to good use as she switches to the all-weather. Sea The Stars filly Walking On Stars made little impression on debut
6.22 Wolverhampton – Angel Sense and Supreme Star seek first success
Angel Sense and Supreme Star feature among 12 runners for an open-looking Free Bets On attheraces.com EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.
The Marco Botti-trained Angel Sense had finished in the first three on his opening three starts before suffering a heavy defeat when favourite at Newbury and he could be involved if able to bounce back.
Stablemate Supreme Star improved on his debut to finish an excellent second at Nottingham last month and that form entitles him to hit the frame.
Fresh from his Group Two win earlier this week, Kaiya Fraser will be looking for further successes and rides Location Location – who kept on when second at Thirsk on his last start and must be feared. Archie Watson’s Ouragan is another for the shortlist, having ran well at Newbury the last day. If she adapts to the tapeta, she could trouble the judge.
10.14 Saratoga – Survie and Gezora seek Grade Two honours
A fantastic renewal of the Grade Two Glens Falls Stakes sees ex-European runners Gezora and Survie clash at Saratoga.
Gezora enjoyed a fruitful campaign last season, winning the Prix de Diane and Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf when trained by Francis-Henri Graffard. However, she is yet to score since heading to the United States. Second in the Modesty Stakes at Churchill Downs on her first start of the campaign, she failed to fire when well beaten in the New York Stakes and has a point to prove on debut for Bill Mott.
Survie has been a fine servant for her connections picking up over £700,000 in prize money in her eighteen starts. George Boughey’s five-year-old has run with credit on her last couple of runs at Newmarket and Royal Ascot and could be suited by this sharp 12-furlong test.
Last-time winners Massarat and Dona Clota make each-way appeal in a superb heat.
