Mathieu Jussaume scored a hat-trick as Toulouse ran in eight tries in a crushing 46-0 win against St Helens at the BrewDog Stadium to make it back-to-back victories in the Betfred Super League.
The French side’s afternoon of dominance started in the fifth minute when Saints gave the ball away inside their own 20-metre line and Jussaume punished them by grounding the ball over the whitewash, with Jake Shorrocks adding the extras.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 15th minute when Olly Ashall-Bott swiftly cut inside and gifted the ball to Jussaume who touched down for his second try.
Toulouse added four more points from a couple of penalties for offside and a tackle off the ball, and Shorrocks twice kicked from the tee to push their score to 16.
The visitors were 20 points to the good before the interval. A kick to the left corner bounced kindly for Henry O’Kane who caught the ball and dived over.
Toulouse showed no signs of letting up after the break as they ran in a fourth try – Tiaki Chan receiving an offload 30 metres out which opened up the Saints and he was able to race over the whitewash.
Toulouse made it 30-0 with 20 minutes to play. St Helens allowed a kick by the 20-metre line to bounce, Toulouse gained possession after it came off a Saints player and a final pass out to Paul Ulberg allowed him to go over in the corner.
The away side capped a perfect away performance with three more tries in the final 10 minutes. An effort from Romeo Tropis was followed by Jussaume completing his hat-trick and a final try from Benjamin Laguerre.
