Mythical, the entertainment company founded by top YouTube creators and talk-show hosts Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, promoted Jacob Moncrief to president, overseeing all aspects of the business.
Moncrief, who most recently served as chief operating officer, will lead the Mythical business as the company continues to expand across content, commerce, partnerships and distribution. He assumes the role with the recent departure of former Mythical president Brian Flanagan after nearly a decade. Flanagan last month announced that he is forming a technology and business intelligence company serving the creator economy.
“Jacob has played an integral role in helping Mythical become the company it is today,” Rhett & Link said in a joint statement. “What makes him such a strong leader is that he understands both the business and the creative side of what we do. He’s helped us grow in meaningful ways while protecting the culture and independence that matter most to us. We couldn’t be more excited to have him leading the company into its next chapter.”
Moncrief first joined Mythical in 2017, spending nearly five years at the company, most recently serving as SVP of production and operations. In 2021, he served as general manager of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Media, where he oversaw production and business operations across a slate of unscripted, digital and branded content projects including Post Malone’s “Twelve Carat Toothache: A VR Experience” for Meta, “Class of ’88” for Audible, “Exposure: for Samsung and Hulu, and “Off Thee Leash With Megan Thee Stallion” for Snapchat.
In January 2024, Moncrief rejoined the company as COO, where he is credited with playing a key role in expanding Mythical’s branded content business and leading strategic initiatives across content, partnerships, distribution and representation. Moncrief was recognized as a member of Variety‘s 41 Under 40: The New Leaders Class of 2025.
“It’s been an incredible privilege to help build alongside Rhett & Link over the years,” Moncrief said in a statement. “Mythical has always been guided by a simple idea: make great things with great people and let the audience lead the way. As we look ahead, our focus is on continuing to make the kind of entertainment only Mythical can make, finding thoughtful ways to reach new audiences, and building a company that can do that successfully for years to come. I’m honored to help lead that next chapter.”
Mythical’s flagship show is “Good Mythical Morning,” hosted by Rhett & Link, now in its 13th year. The company’s breakout shows include Mythical Kitchen’s “Last Meals,” hosted by Josh Scherer, whose guests have included Tom Hanks, Hugh Jackman, Post Malone, Emma Chamberlain, Meghan Trainor, Jason Kelce and the Jonas Brothers.
