NBC Sports Uses World Cup Fever to Spark Interest in Premier League

NBC Sports hopes to keep the nation’s summer of soccer alive, harnessing the interest in its World Cup telecasts on Telemundo and Peacock for its annual focus on Premier League play.

NBC Sports and the league on Thursday launched “Find Your Match,” a shareable, interactive 11-question quiz that pairs die-hard fans or even the merely curious with a Premier League club based on personality traits and cultural interest. The result, says Lyndsay Signor, senior vice president of marketing at NBC Sports, is a connection that will result in NBC and the League being able to send each participant information about how to watch the team during the 2026-2027 season, which kicks off across NBC, Peacock and Versant’s USA Network.

“We have a lot of data that shows people out there who are discovering soccer for the first time through World Cup don’t want it to end,” she says. “They want to keep their fandom going.”

More players in the 2026 FIFA World Cup are from Premier League than any other organization — 182 played in Premier League last season or are signed up for this coming one. Among that number is Erling Haaland, the Norwegian soccer player who has seen his profile increase during World Cup play.

“So many of the Premier League stars are breaking through in the World Cup,” notes Signor. “If you’re not a core fan, you can see them play all year long though the Premier League. If you are a core fan, you’re going to see them on the international stage in a different way.”

The quiz will officially debut within the Premier League’s footprint at Fanatics Fest NYC this week, from July 16 to July 19, where fans can experience a large-scale “Find Your Match experience.” Those attending the event will be among the first to experience the quiz and discover their club match.

“We are incredibly excited for the season ahead and look forward to bringing the energy of the Premier League to even more sports fans who have fallen in love with soccer this summer,” said Akash Jain, U.S managing director of Premier League, in a statement. adding: “No matter which of our 20 clubs fans match with, we’re confident they’ll find a team they can connect with on an unforgettable journey this season and beyond.”

Fans who complete the quiz will also be entered for a chance to win a trip to the U.K. to watch their newly matched Premier League club play. The quiz is available on NBCSports.com, PremierLeague.com, and the Premier League app.

The quiz shows casual and more intense fans that “we have a place for them to continue to watch their stars,” says Signor.
