‘Naruto’ Sets New York Comic Con Panel, Teases New Film, Card Game


A “Naruto” panel featuring Japanese voice cast members and a Studio Pierrot producer will take place at New York Comic Con this year, with Viz Media promising new franchise announcements and first-look footage.

The panel will run Oct. 10 inside the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. It will cover updates across the “Naruto” animation franchise and the Naruto Card Game.

Takeuchi Junko, the Japanese voice of Naruto Uzumaki, and Sugiyama Noriaki, the Japanese voice of Sasuke Uchiha, will appear alongside Tominaga Yoshihiko, executive producer at Studio Pierrot. A Bandai representative will also be present.

Panel highlights are expected to include an announcement related to a new animated film along with its worldwide premiere, new information and the first promotional video for the Naruto Card Game, and additional surprise announcements regarding other media developments.

“Naruto” is a shonen manga created by Kishimoto Masashi and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump beginning in 1999, concluding its run in 2014 after 700 chapters. The story follows Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja seeking to overcome rivals and past grudges on his way to becoming Hokage, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village. The manga’s collected volumes have sold more than 250 million copies across over 60 countries and regions.

The anime adaptation debuted on TV Tokyo in 2002 and continued as “Naruto Shippuden” from 2007 until March 2017, marking the 20th anniversary of its television debut in October 2022. 11 theatrical anime films have been released, and the series currently airs in more than 145 countries and regions. Beyond apps, games and merchandise, the franchise has moved into exhibitions, 2.5D stage musicals, music festivals and kabuki theater.
