Nara Smith is reflecting on one of the hardest chapters of her family’s story thus far.
The 24-year-old recently opened up about her experience taking her and Lucky Blue Smith’s 2-year-old daughter Whimsy Lou to the hospital for cancer treatments. And while she decided to keep Whimsy’s journey out of the public eye while the toddler was receiving care, Smith had a revelation after her daughter went into remission.
“Right after her birthday, she was in remission,” she recounted, choking up, on the July 29 episode of Call Her Daddy. “We finished her last treatment, we rang the bell, it was very emotional and I just realized, ‘Well, maybe if I use my platform to make even just one person feel less alone, I can do that.’ And that’s kind of why we shared it.”
Throughout her daughter’s health journey, Smith—who is also mom to Rumble Honey, 5, Slim Easy, 4, and Fawnie Gold, 9 months, and stepmom to Lucky’s daughter Gravity Blue with ex Stormi Bree—had frequently debated whether she should tell the world about Whimsy’s diagnosis. The influencer was particularly nervous that people would take photos or videos of her family in the hospital, potentially revealing her daughter’s treatments.
