Huddersfield twice came from behind and produced a second-half fightback as they picked up a second straight Betfred Super League victory with a 22-16 win over Hull FC at the Accu Stadium.
Following their win over York last week, Huddersfield registered back-to-back victories for the first time since April. They remain rock-bottom of the table but are now just two points behind losers Hull.
Huddersfield were on the front foot after being given a fresh set of six around 40 metres out and they made Hull pay after an inside ball from Harry Rushton was given to Chris Patolo who reached out across the whitewash. George Flanagan converted.
Hull managed to get themselves on level terms midway through the first half, Jake Arthur delivered a short ball to Joe Batchelor who was able to race clear and slide over.
The visitors took the lead just six minutes later following an excellent break by Cade Cust who had Ethan O’Neill and Davy Litten for support, and he was able to finish off in the corner but Zak Hardaker was unable to add the extras.
Huddersfield almost had their second try before the break but Jacob Gagai was unable to dot down in the corner and was denied a try following a video review.
Much like the first half, the hosts made a strong start to the second and had the opening try of the period, Tui Lolohea’s kick forced a Hull knock-on and Connor Wrench was able to kick through before grounding behind the sticks.

Their lead was short-lived though, as Hull turned defence into attack with a break down the field courtesy of O’Neill and he offloaded to Litten who finished off the move to make it 16-12.
Huddersfield bit back once again when Lewis Jagger dived over to make it a level game and after Hull were pulled for a high tackle, the home side went down the other end and got the winning try when Flanagan dived behind the posts to pick up another vital win.
“It was nice to have a bit of belief at the back end of the game and find a way to win instead of lose,” Huddersfield head coach Jim Lenihan told Sky Sports.
“It’s the reward of a lot of hard work in training. The biggest part is we are looking forward to playing football. This is a very proud club that works hard behind the scenes, we want to walk round with some pride about ourselves.”
