Lewis Hamilton steps out in a pinstriped suit at the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello on Monday (January 20) in Italy.
The 40-year-old Formula 1 star marked his first official day as a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver, nearly one year after it was announced he was making the move to the team this year.
If you’re unfamiliar, this is Lewis‘ third team in F1. He first joined McLaren for his first five years, before moving to Mercedes for a very successful 11-year run, where he won six of his seven championships.
After making the rounds inside, and meeting with Ferrari figures like Team Principal Fred Vasseur, Chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna, he went out to greet the adoring fans, aka the Tifosi, who have been waiting for this day.

“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today,” Lewis captioned one post on Instagram. “Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”
Later on, he shared another post with photos of him meeting members of the team.
“Day one. I’m grateful to John Elkann, Benedetto Vigna and Fred Vasseur for their trust in me and making me part of this family,” Lewis wrote. “I’m so excited to start this new era and to meet and work with a hugely talented and inspiring group of people, who have been so welcoming. I’m dedicated to bringing everything I have to deliver for the team, the wider organisation and the fans 🐎”
Weather permitting, Lewis is set to have his first Ferrari test drive at the Fiorano circuit on Wednesday (January 22). The session will reportedly be broadcast on Sky Sports!
