Leighton Meester is explaining why she distanced herself from making pop music.
If you didn’t know, in 2009, Leighton released songs “Somebody to Love,” “Your Love’s a Drug” and the hit “Good Girls God Bad” with Cobra Starship. However, in 2014, she released the folk-inspired album Heartstrings.
In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actress revealed why she decided to step away from her pop-leaning sound.

“I just didn’t feel like I sang that well in those songs. That’s why I stopped doing that style of songwriting, because I didn’t feel really good when I would sing it. That was something that I figured out in my 20s,” she told Bustle.
