Korn Ferry Tour: Sandy Scott breaks into top 100 with back-to-back wins after career-threatening injury | Golf News

Sandy Scott’s remarkable rise continued on Sunday as the Scot, who has battled back from a career-threatening wrist injury, clinched his second straight Korn Ferry Tour victory at the Compliance Solutions Championship.

The 28-year-old from Nairn defeated William Sides in a four-hole play-off at The Patriot Golf Club to shoot to the top of the US circuit’s Points List, heading into next week’s Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

It comes just two weeks after he secured his first victory on the PGA Tour feeder circuit at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, a win which earned Scott a PGA Tour card for the 2027 season.

Scott has now broken into the world’s top 100, with this weekend’s triumph in Oklahoma lifting him to 87th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Seven years ago, the former Walker Cup player was preparing to turn professional when a serious wrist injury left him fearing he might never play competitive golf again.

Scott tore the ligaments in his right wrist and underwent two surgeries in 2019, forcing him to spend around 24 months on the sidelines.

“I have always had the belief that I can do it,” he said. “That’s why we all tee it up. I think that’s where we all see ourselves going.

“Belief is a big part of this game. Doing it this way is pretty special.”

After recovering from surgery, Scott spent two years grinding his way through PGA Tour Latinoamerica and PGA Tour Americas, eventually earning his place on the Korn Ferry Tour after finishing eighth in the latter’s Order of Merit in 2024.

“I’m proud of the fight to get here,” he added. “I’m grateful for the support that I’ve had. Looking back on those times is pretty neat.”

The wrist injury continues to cause him some discomfort, with Scott sidelined for another two months earlier in the 2026 season.

“I have gone through some ups and downs, injuries and whatnot,” said the Texas Tech alumnus.

“When it first flared up in college, it took a couple of surgeries and some steroid injections, and I was out for the best part of two years.”

“It took a lot of perseverance and help. A couple of months ago it flared up, but I did the right things.

“I let it heal and came back feeling good. I think it’ll just be a case of management.

“I know what helps it and hurts it now, but I feel good now.”

Scott began Sunday’s final round three shots behind 54-hole leader Trent Phillips, but a six-under 64 sent him surging up the leaderboard and into a tie with Sides after 72 holes.

Neither player could be separated through the first three play-off holes, but Scott finally gained the advantage at the fourth when Sides found a greenside bunker with his approach.

The British golfer landed his ball on the green and holed out for birdie.

“I was pretty delighted when the putt went in,” Scott, who now has two wins and a runner-up finish in his last three starts, said.

“There was probably some relief there as well. It was a long day.”

Scott will now hope to cap off 2026 as the tour’s season-long points race leader, with a strong finish at next week’s Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

“I came into this week with a blank slate in my mind,” he added.

“I’m trying to do the same stuff, play the same golf, commit to the shots.

“In the conversations my caddie and I have had, we tried to be as consistent as possible. I’m just going to take that into next week and see where we end up.”
