New details are coming to light in the case against fraternity brothers on Cornell University’s campus.
Amid public outcry over how the Ivy League institution handled its investigation into an alleged gang rape from 2024, a phone call between the alleged victim—known as Jane Doe—and one of the accused Chi Phi members has emerged.
“The only way for me to heal is to know what happened,” the woman told Matthew Ingalls over the phone during the November 2024 call, according to a recording obtained by ABC News. “That’s why I’m trying to just piece it together, you know, like I’m just like confused.”
Doe added, “If I just know what happened, then I can feel a little bit better and move on and maybe be able to stay at this school.”
During the alleged October 2024 event at the fraternity house, Doe—who was invited by a fraternity member—described being intoxicated and having a sexual encounter with two men that she said eventually grew to include multiple others without her consent, according to police records and Cornell campus records obtained by ABC News.
