Garcelle Beauvais Sets Memoir ‘Protecting My Peace at All Costs’ at Audible

For more than four decades, Garcelle Beauvais has built a career as an award-winning actress, author, executive producer, TV host and, of course, a “Real Housewife,” but even if you’ve been following along from the beginning, you don’t know the whole story.

And Beauvais is ready to share it: on May 7, she will release her second memoir, “Protecting My Peace…at All Costs,” exclusively on Audible. Written and narrated by Beauvais, the Audible Original invites listeners into “the quiet awakening that guided her into her truth,” a synopsis explains, as the book “explores the transformative power of choosing yourself, including her decision to leave ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’” Beauvais announced her departure from the Bravo reality show last year, after five seasons.

“This is a story about knowing when your spirit says no more, and having the courage to honor that truth,” Beauvais says in a statement to Variety about the new memoir. “Learning to protect my peace, set boundaries without apology, and finally walk in the power that I have always carried isn’t selfish. It’s survival.”

She continues: “I wanted to share what I’ve learned about walking into rooms as my full self and refusing to leave any part of who I am at the door. This Audible original is for anyone who’s ever felt empty from giving too much and who’s ready to reclaim what’s theirs. Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is simply choose you.”

In the memoir, Beauvais reflects on much more than her groundbreaking run as the first Black cast member on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” She also expands upon her previous biography, “Love Me As I Am,” released in 2022. This story explores her entire journey from Haiti to Hollywood as she reflects on the experiences that shaped her life — from motherhood and marriage to friendship breakups and the ups and downs of fame — and shares the wisdom she gained along the way.

“Garcelle’s story represents exactly the kind of authentic, transformative storytelling that Audible champions,” adds Kate Navin, Audible’s head of creative development for North America. “This isn’t just a celebrity memoir — Garcelle’s decision to share her journey exclusively in audio allows for an intimacy and vulnerability that perfectly suits her message. We’re proud to provide the platform where her voice can reach millions of listeners who need to hear that protecting your peace isn’t just acceptable. It’s essential.”

Beauvais’ filmography ranges from “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “NYPD Blue” to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and the “Coming to America” movies. Through her production company, she executive-produced and starred in “Black Girl Missing” and “Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted by Love” for Lifetime. She next appears in the third season of the Netflix comedy series “Survival Of The Thickest.”
