Enes Unal: Bournemouth striker suffers tear to right anterior cruciate ligament during training

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with Enes at this moment as he begins to process another significant period of rehabilitation ahead,” the club said in a statement., external

“He will undergo surgery to repair the ligament in the coming days and the club’s medical and performance staff will support him in every way possible throughout.”

This is the second time Unal has faced a lengthy spell out with a serious injury, as he also damaged his ACL while at Spanish side Getafe and missed the first half of the 2023-24 La Liga season.

Unal and Evanilson’s absences will be a blow to Bournemouth’s European ambitions this season.

Last weekend’s 1-0 win against Everton helped them set a new club record of eight Premier League games unbeaten.

The Cherries are seventh in the table, three points outside the top four.

They announced later on Wednesday that striker Daniel Jebbison has been recalled from his loan spell at Watford, having failed to find the net in 13 Championship appearances for the Hornets.

Jebbison, 21, joined Bournemouth from Sheffield United last summer and came on as a substitute in their first two Premier League games before his temporary switch to Watford.
