Doechii is confronting online speculation that her 2025 Grammys performance was lip-synced.
Over the weekend, the 26-year-old rapper responded to a TikTok comment accusing her of not using live vocals when she performed “Catfish” and “Denial is a River” the night she won Best Rap Album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal.”

“Some parts of the live song you can see that she’s not saying anything and the song is still playing with her pre-record voice,” a user wrote.
Doechii then addressed the comment and defended herself by posting her own response via TikTok.
“That was my DJ’s voice picking up on lines that I can’t do because I was doing a somersault. That entire performance was live!,” she explained.
She continued: “I was sick as a dog with bronchitis and the flu, performing my a– off in a the straddle on top of human men. You can hear my beads slapping the mic in the beginning. Worked my a– off to build the stamina for that, for y’all to play in my face. I don’t lip synch. Don’t ever f—king play with me like that. Ever!”
Doechii also wore visible face tape to the 2025 Grammys, and she explained why she makes the fashion choice.
