Director Chris Stokes has signed an exclusive 20-picture deal with Turnstr+, a new streaming platform. His forthcoming film, “Forever, This Ring,” will debut when the platform launches on October 2.
Taye Diggs, Erica Mena, Loretta Devine, Marques Houston, Malik Whitfield and La’Myia Good star in the film.
Described as a “twisted physiological thriller,” “Forever, This Ring” is set to follow a wealthy couple’s perfect marriage as it turns into a “nightmare,” per the official logline. Maveric Collins, a successful entrepreneur and playboy, has promised to never get married — until he meets the woman of his dreams and changes his mind. But when they get married, he finds out she’s actually not who he thought she was. “Will the woman he once loved go away calmly, or will this end in a deadly divorce?”
“I’m excited to scale up another platform — I believe I have an eye for what’s new and what people love to see. I believe in what I do and it shows up in my work, and the fans always show up,” said Stokes. “As I help catapult Turnstr+ Originals to the next level, I’m continuing a strong partnership with Tubi, and looking forward to pushing boundaries together as we expand into Turnstr+. We’ve done it before, and we’re about to do it again.”
Stokes has a proven track record of helping streaming platforms originals breakout, including BET+ and Tubi Originals. Previously, Stokes founded and chaired Footage Films, the independent film company behind Tubi and BET+ originals including “The Stepdaughter,” “Forever Us,” “Vicious Affair,” the “The Stepmother” franchise and “Sacrifice.” Marques Houston serves as Footage Films’ CEO and Juanita Stokes serves as the company’s president.
Over the course of his career, Stokes has directed 57 titles, including “Rockabye,” “You Got Served,” “Adopted,” “Run,” “Snatched” and more. Upcoming films include “Hijacked” starring Tremayne Norris, “I Didn’t Do It” starring Jackie Long and “Night Shift” starring Apryl Jones, among others.
