BTS Teams Up for “Destined” New Project After Reuniting Following Military Service
BTS is opting out of the 2027 Grammys with luv.
The K-pop group’s members Jimin, Jung Kook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM and V announced that they will not be submitting their 2026 album Arirang for consideration at the upcoming award show, just one month after the Recording Academy confirmed the event will include an Asian pop music performance category for the first time ever.
“We have decided not to submit for Grammy consideration this year,” they wrote in a joint statement shared to all of their Instagram accounts July 29. “We hope our music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language.”
The statement added, “We thank [BTS] Army and everyone who has always stood by us.”
The group’s statement comes a little over a month after the Recording Academy announced June 16 that the 2027 Grammys will include five new categories, including an Asian pop music performance category.
“This category recognizes artistic excellence in Asian pop music performances originating from or widely recognized within Asian markets,” according to the Grammys official website, “including but not limited to K-pop, J-pop and C-pop, with meaningful use of one or more Asian languages.”
