‘Blue’s Clues’ Star Steve Burns Signs With UTA

“Blue’s Clues” star Steve Burns has signed with UTA for representation in all areas.

Burns was the original host of the children’s TV series from 1996 to 2002, helping propel it into one of the most recognizable kids’ franchises of the 1990s and 2000s.

He reprised his role — a fictionalized version of himself — in the 2019 reboot “Blue’s Clues & You!” as a recurring character and mentor to the franchise’s new host, Josh Dela Cruz. Burns also served as a key creative force behind the scenes, writing and directing several episodes of the show through 2024.

Burns reemerged in the spotlight in 2021, when his pandemic-era video message to fans in honor of the 25th anniversary of “Blue’s Clues” went viral. In the tear-jerker clip, Burns explained his abrupt departure from the show and gave well wishes to his loyal viewers, now all grown up. “Look at all you have done, and all you have accomplished in all that time,” Burns said. “I mean, we started out with clues, and now, it’s what? Student loans, and jobs and families? And some of it has been kind of hard, you know? I know you know.”

Now, Burns hosts the podcast “Alive With Steve Burns,” in which he leads thoughtful conversations about curiosity and what it means to be alive. He was nominated for an Ambie Award for best podcast host for his work on the show.

In August, Burns will take the stage for the world premiere of his solo show, “Steve Burns: Alive,” which will open at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
