Balrog, Ringwraiths Go to War

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” dropped its epic Season 3 trailer on Wednesday ahead of its premiere on Prime Video on Nov. 11.

The new trailer shows Sauron’s evil army full of orcs, dragons and ringwraiths wreak havoc on Middle-Earth as the heroes fight back against the onslaught. The first four episodes of Season 3 will premiere on Nov. 11, followed by two more on Nov. 18 and the final two on Nov. 25.

“All the peoples of Middle-Earth are engaged in the heroic struggle against Sauron and his army of Orcs,” the logline reads. “His terrifying Ring-servants, the Nazgnagôl, roam Middle-Earth clad in black armor as tensions rise among the Elves trying desperately to hold the front lines; familial ties are strained among the Dwarves in Khazad-dûm; political factions push the island kingdom of Númenor to the brink of civil war; and in the eastern lands of Rhûn, Gandalf enlists his full powers of magic and persuasion as he fights to turn the tide of impending darkness.”

The “Rings of Power” cast members include Charlie Vickers, Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Robert Strange, and Markella Kavenagh. “Stranger Things” star Jamie Campbell Bower, Eddie Marsan, Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla and Adam Young also joined the cast for Season 3. At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed that Simon Pegg would voice the Balrog this season.

“The Rings of Power” Season 3 is produced by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. The pair will also executive produce along with Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and director Charlotte Brändström. Brändström is joined by directors Sanaa Hamri and Stefan Schwartz, each director overseeing multiple episodes in the upcoming season. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer with Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee as co-producers.
