The team behind “All Her Fault” is back in business with Peacock. Variety has learned the Peacock has greenlit a limited series adaptation of the Katherine Faulkner novel “The Break-In.”
“All Her Fault” writer Megan Gallagher will write and executive produce “The Break-In,” while Nigel Marchant and Gareth Neame of Carnival Films — which produced “All Her Fault” — will also executive produce. Christine Sacani, another EP on “All Her Fault,” will executive produce “The Break-In” as well, as will Faulkner. Universal International Studios will produce.
The official logline for “The Break-In” states, “In the aftermath of a devastating home invasion, Alice Rathbone refuses to accept that the tragic event was simply random. Desperate for answers, Alice starts pulling at threads and soon finds a trail of dark secrets that spiral closer to home than she could ever have imagined.”
“After the breakout success of ‘All Her Fault,’ we knew we wanted to continue building on that creative momentum with Megan Gallagher and Carnival Films,” said Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBC & Peacock “‘The Break-In’ is exactly the kind of sophisticated, character-driven mystery our audiences are responding to right now – stories that tap into the zeitgeist by exploring the tension between perception and reality. Katherine Faulkner’s story is a compelling, addictive ride and a great example of the premium storytelling we’re continuing to build at Peacock.”
“All Her Fault” was also based on a novel of the same name, written by Andrea Mara. Sarah Snook led the cast, which also included Jake Lacy, Dakota Fanning, Jay Ellis, Abby Elliott, Michael Peña, Thomas Cocquerel, and Daniel Monks. The series aired between November and December 2025.
Per Peacock, the show generated the biggest original series launch in the streamer’s history, with 46 million hours viewed in its first three weeks of availability.
“It’s an absolute dream to see ‘The Break-In’ being brought to the screen by this exceptional, world-class team whose passion for the story has been evident from the very beginning.” said Faulkner. “‘The Break-In’ is a story about motherhood, privilege and guilt, the devastating consequences of lies and the dark secrets that can exist beneath the surface of even the most seemingly perfect lives. I can’t wait to work with Megan Gallagher, Carnival Films and Peacock to bring these characters and their secrets to life, and to introduce ‘The Break-In’ to a whole new audience.”
In addition to her work on “All Her Fault,” Gallagher is known for writing and executive producing the BBC series “Wolf,” based on Mo Hayder’s Jack Caffery novels. Up next, she has the ITV drama “The Blame” starring Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth.
She is repped by United Agents and UTA.
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Megan Gallagher and working alongside Peacock again,” said Merchant, co-executive chair of Carnival Films. “Katherine Faulkner has given us something genuinely propulsive to work with – a story that gets under your skin and doesn’t let go. We can’t wait to bring this show to life.”
Carnival Films is part of Universal International Studios. The company’s past productions include “Downton Abbey,” “The Last Kingdom,” “The Day Of The Jackal,” and “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth.”
Faulkner is an award-winning journalist who previously worked as an investigative reporter and editor, and was formerly head of news at The Times. She is the author of “The Break-In,” “The Other Mothers” and “Greenwich Park.”
