England’s Matthew Jordan is two shots off the lead heading into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The 30-year-old made a six-under-par 66 to finish the day 16 under, which kept the pressure on leader Casey Jarvis of South Africa.
Poland’s Adrian Meronk, who shot the joint-best round of the day with a nine-under 63, is also 16 under.
Belgium’s Thomas Detry is a further shot back on 15 under after a seven-under 65 at St Andrews.
Jordan, bidding to win a DP World Tour event, started the third round at Kingsbarns and carded a six-under 66 to move to 16 under.
After finishing as runner-up at the Nexo Championship in Scotland in August, Jordan, who claimed the 2017 St Andrews Links Trophy as an amateur, is keen to go one better on the final day.
“What I wanted to do, and felt like I hadn’t done over the last 12, 18 months was put myself in a position to win,” Jordan told the DP World Tour., external
“Certainly. I kind of always felt that maybe I was a bit too far back and needed an amazing round to make it happen. I’ve done well in the last couple events.
“I want to give myself a really good chance. And then just try and win a golf tournament.”
Jarvis acknowledged he was “going to be feeling pressure” to hold off the chasing pack in the final round.
“I still know I am going to feel first tee nerves and pressure throughout the day, but I am just going to try and manage it as much as I can,” he said.
Jarvis began his round with an eagle at the first and went on to card a bogey-free 65 at St Andrews to move to 18 under.
Meronk made birdies at his opening four holes at Kingsbarns and added an eagle later in his nine-under 63 to join Jordan on 16 under.
England’s Matt Fitzpatrick made six under at St Andrews to sit at 12 under alongside defending champion Robert MacIntyre and fellow Scot Calum Hill.
