Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams’ Career Rule for Daughters Revealed

Alexis Ohanian Reveals His, Serena Williams’ No. 1 Rule for Their Daughters

Alexis Ohanian wants his kids to ace their future endeavors.

The Reddit CEO revealed the only rule he and wife Serena Williams have for their daughters Olympia, 9, and Adira, 3, when it comes to picking their careers.

“The one rule in the house is we don’t care what you want to do when you grow up, as long as you do your best at it,” Ohanian told USA Sports at the premiere event celebrating his new track and field league, Athlos, Sept. 18, adding that he’d also like them to pursue “something useful.”

As for whether either of his little ones have shown interest in a specific field yet? Ohanian said Olympia has her sights set on one chic job in particular, noting, “Fashion designer is the number one career path that she’s circling around.”

However, after watching his eldest interview several athletes at the international debut of Athlos—which features an athlete-ownership model spearheaded by Sha’Carri, Gabby Thomas and Tara Davis-Woodhall—the 43-year-old joked that she might be open to exploring other avenues as well.

“Watch out,” Ohanian quipped. “She’s coming for journalism. She’s gonna go be great.”
