Adrien Brody Reveals His Style in New J.Crew Menswear Campaign

Fresh off a best actor Oscar nod for his role in The Brutalist, Adrien Brody channels Hollywood icons as the new face of J.Crew’s menswear collection.

The Academy Award- and Golden Globe-winning actor models casual and event-ready pieces from the brand’s spring men’s range, such as the workwear-inspired Harrington khaki jacket with a classic white button-down and Italian wool trousers, and a navy mockneck sweater with dark blue poplin chino pants and Sperry sneakers.

Brody says he took inspiration from other leading men for his shoot with J.Crew, known for its American heritage. In a statement for the campaign, he shares, “When I think about American style, I often think of actors from an earlier generation like Marlon Brando and James Dean. There’s a style I associate with that kind of emotive acting. It has a degree of formality but ther’s also a very casual quality. They figured out how to make it work.”

The 51-year-old actor also reveals his early style connections to the brand: “In high school in New York City, I had this great dark green J.Crew cable-knit sweater that worked with my sense of style. I don’t like to wear anything that doesn’t feel authentic or comfortable.”

Other pieces seen in the campaign include a vintage-wash cotton pocket tee, houndstooth socks, and a linen-cotton pinstripe blazer and wool trousers woven by family-owned Italian mills Emmetex and Vitale Barberis Canonico.

Brody won an Academy Award for best actor for his role in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist, making him the youngest to take home a trophy in that category. His performance in the Brutalist, in which he plays an architect who survives the Holocaust and flees to America, has already earned him Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards.
