Lena Dunham let the crowd hear one more joke—and she doesn’t care if it made anyone laugh until they cry.
After there were whispers that the Girls alum made a crass joke about Travis Kelce’s profession during his wedding to Taylor Swift on July 3, Dunham diffused the tension before the talking turned to screams.
“Available going forward for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and sweet sixteens (gay ones),” Dunham quipped in a July 5 Instagram post featuring her husband Luis Felber and her longtime producing partner and work husband Michael P. Cohen. “I love both my husbands and I love love.”
As for the joke in question, according to the Daily Mail, Dunham was rumored to have made an off-color reference to Kelce’s sport during the white-veil occasion, cracking, “American football is just straight guys reenacting gay porn.”
It was a bold joke given the crowd. In addition to Swift’s guy on the Chiefs, the room was full of current and former NFL pros including Patrick Mahomes, George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk, Tom Brady and, of course, the best man Jason Kelce.
