7 Million U.S. Viewers on HBO

The seventh episode of “Lanterns” reached 7 million viewers in the U.S. in its first three days of availability.

That total comes from a combination of Nielsen’s measurement of linear viewers on HBO‘s cable channel plus streams on HBO Max. The DC Universe series has shown strong viewership thus far, averaging above 12 million viewers per episode to date in the U.S. and nearly 19 million when factoring in international viewing.

It can be expected that these averages will continue to climb: HBO’s most similar recent series is “It: Welcome to Derry,” which saw 6.5 million U.S. viewers in three days with its most-watched episode — slightly fewer than the latest “Lanterns” tally — and later went on to hit a global average of 19.7 million.

Other recent HBO and HBO Max dramas to compare to include “Euphoria,” which hit 8.7 million viewers globally in three days with its Season 3 finale, at which point the series was averaging 25 million per episode, and “The Pitt,” which ended its second season with 9.7 million finale viewers in the U.S. and a season average of 15.4 million. (HBO did not provide a global tally for “Lanterns” Episode 7.) HBO’s last DC series, “The Penguin,” concluded with an average of more than 27 million viewers per episode in 2024.

“Lanterns” is also continuing to bring in new viewers as the season progresses, with 1.5 million new viewers watching the series premiere within the last week. The series finale will be released this Sunday.
