Contents Panda is bowing supernatural horror “The Other Side” at Hong Kong FilMart.
Directed by Kim Jung-min and produced by Nalgae Entertainment (“Rhapsody for the Dead,” “Fantasy of the Girls”), the film stars Cha Sun-woo (“The Cursed,” “Reply 1994”) and Lee Lu-da (“Rinza Noodle House”), and is targeting a 2026 bow.
In the film, three strangers — a writer, a creditor and a detective — converge on a remote cabin, each with their own agenda. Strange occurrences quickly destabilize the group, with the writer becoming increasingly unhinged, convinced the location has an inexplicable hold over her creative faculties. When a corpse turns up and evidence of a malevolent presence emerges, the detective sets about piecing together what the cabin is hiding while the others desperately seek a way out.
The title joins two previously announced Contents Panda productions at the market. “The Second Child,” a mystery-dark fantasy-horror directed by Yu Eun-jeong (“Ghost Walk”) and produced by Film Run (“Moonlit Winter,” “Merry Christmas Mr. Mo”) stars Lim Soo-jung (“Cobweb,” “Woochi”), Park Soi (“The Atypical Family,” “Revenant”) and Yuna (“Dark Nuns,” “Pachinko”). The story follows a young woman who regains consciousness after three years in a coma, only to be confronted by the apparition of her deceased sister, as their mother’s search for the truth behind the sister’s death gradually uncovers a dark hereditary secret stretching back centuries. Their separate investigations converge when they encounter a stranger bearing an uncanny resemblance to the dead girl.
Also previously announced is “The Ultimate Duo,” a crime-action drama helmed by Park Chul-hwan (“Blood Free,” “Grid”), starring Bae Seong-woo (“Road to Boston,” “Beasts Clawing at Straws”), Jung Ga-ram (“Love Alarm,” “Jo Pil Ho: The Dawning Rage”) and Esom (“Kill Boksoon,” “Escape”), and produced by Generation Blue Film (“Jo Pil Ho: The Dawning Rage,” “Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead”). The film pairs a disgraced regional detective with an ambitious rookie, who built his reputation as a social media influencer before joining the force. The unlikely partners find themselves drawn into a Gangnam murder case that has already been officially resolved with a different suspect, forcing them to travel to Seoul to pursue what they believe is the real killer. It is targeting a release in the second quarter of 2026.
