Michael B. Jordan Wins Best Actor for Sinners

Michael B. Jordan’s Oscars Best Actor Speech Is Absolutely Perfect

Michael B. Jordan is going from sinner to winner at the 2026 Oscars.

The Sinners star earned his first-ever Academy Award for his dual portrayals of twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the horror blockbuster, earning a thunderous response as he accepted his Best Actor statuette at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles March 15.

“Thank you, everybody in this room and everybody at home, for supporting me over my career. I feel it,” he said during the ceremony hosted by Conan O’Brien. “I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me, so thank you for keep betting on me. I’m gonna keep stepping up, and I’m gonna keep being the best version of myself I can be.”

And Michael—who was also nominated alongside Marty Supreme’s Timothée Chalamet, One Battle After Another’s Leonardo DiCaprio, Blue Moon’s Ethan Hawke and The Secret Agent’s Wagner Moura—offered a special shoutout to his parents, including his father, who traveled overseas to witness his son’s career achievement.

“Y’all know how I feel about my mother, and my father’s here,” he continued. “My dad came in from Ghana to be here.”

The 39-year-old’s triumph also makes him the sixth Black performer to win Best Actor, joining the ranks of Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker and Will Smith before him. He recognized his predecessors as well as Halle Berry—the first Black woman to win Best Actress—describing the trailblazing group as “giants.”
