Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour actually are cut from the same cloth.
While the The Devil Wears Prada actress first earned comparison to the Vogue editor by playing Miranda Priestly, a character wildly considered to be inspired by Anna, research released by Ancestry April 2 confirms the pair are actually sixth cousins.
Indeed, tracing Anna and Mery’s respective lineages back six generations revealed that they share the same fifth-great grandparents Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Kinsey, who, according to Ancestry, are from Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
But considering Anna was born in London, England, while Meryl hails from Summit, New Jersey, their family line clearly split over the years. Nevertheless, the stars, who are both 76 years old, had an invisible string that brought them back together in The Devil Wears Prada, and of course, its upcoming sequel set to release May 1.
And though Anna spent many years avoiding the comparisons to the villainous Runway editor-in-chief played by Meryl, she more recently came around to the character.
