Get ready to dream big: “Marty Supreme” will be available to stream on HBO Max on April 24.
Released on Dec. 25, A24’s “Marty Supreme” follows the bold, fast-talking Marty Mauser on his haywire pursuit of greatness as he attempts to become the top table tennis player in the world. Timothée Chalamet stars as Mauser in the 1950s-set drama, alongside Odessa A’zion as Rachel Mizler, Gwyneth Paltrow as Kay Stone, Tyler Okonma as Wally, Kevin O’Leary as Milton Rockwell, Abel Ferrara as Ezra Mishkin, Fran Drescher as Rebecca Mauser and Emory Cohen as Ira Mizler.
Directed by Josh Safdie, “Marty Supreme” was the filmmaker’s first feature apart from his brother, Benny Safdie. The two began working separately in 2024 after previously directing “Uncut Gems” in 2019 and “Good Time” in 2017 together. The film was produced by Josh Safdie, Chalamet, Eli Bush and Ronald Bronstein.
Following a much discussed press tour complete with “Marty Supreme” jackets, pop-up events, a blimp and a bold Chalamet at the center, the film debuted to $27.1 million through the four-day Christmas holiday weekend, making it A24’s second-biggest opening weekend to date. It went on to become A24’s highest-grossing movie of all time with $147 million globally.
Prior to the film’s wide release, “Marty Supreme” enjoyed a strong limited release the week earlier, bringing in $875,000 while playing on six screens across New York City and Los Angeles, translating to $145,933 per theater. The debut was the best per-screen-average of 2025, and the biggest of all time for A24.
“Marty Supreme” received Golden Globe nominations for best motion picture musical or comedy, best screenplay motion picture and best performance by a male actor musical or comedy for Chalamet. It also picked up nine Oscar nominations, though it failed to win any.
