Hong Kong’s First Multi-Sensory XR Film Announced at Filmart

Hong Kong cinema takes a bold leap into the immersive era as veteran director and cinematographer Kwok-man Keung unveils “Harbour Dreams: Hong Kong XR Adventure” at this year’s FilMart.

Hailed as the city’s first 6D multi-sensory film, the 20-minute experience blends VR, AR, motion, and scent technologies to let audiences see, hear, touch, and even feel the wind and atmosphere of Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks.

Produced by Sil-Metropole Organisation and Infinity Zone Technology, the project transports viewers through the city’s cultural and urban highlights — from Victoria Harbour and the Peak Tram to Wong Tai Sin Temple, the Tian Tan Buddha and the Avenue of Stars.

The journey is guided by virtual host Louis Cheung alongside Anan the Panda, the project’s bespoke mascot, appearing in themed costumes and interactive segments that encourage playful engagement with Hong Kong’s history and traditions. Adding a musical flourish, the local Supper Moment performs a virtual concert inside the Kai Tak Sports Park. Audiences can participate in game-based interactions during the experience.

For Keung, this venture represents a natural evolution of his career. He entered the film industry in 1984 and has worked on over a hundred productions spanning film, television, web series, commercials, and music specials.

He made his mark with Tsui Hark’s “The Blade” (1995) and has since collaborated with Hong Kong cinema heavyweights, including Derek Yee and Wong Jing. His cinematography has earned multiple nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards, while his directorial projects – from “Bullet & Brain” (2007) starring Eric Tsang and Anthony Chau-Sang Wong to high-grossing web films – have solidified his versatility across both traditional and digital formats.

In 2023, Keung founded Infinity Zone Technology to explore VR, AR, MR, and AI in storytelling, with a particular focus on merging technology with cultural tourism.
