Donald Trump said Iran was keen to make a deal to end the war but that the US wants to “fight”.
“They’re calling. They’re saying, ‘how do we make a deal?’ I said, ‘you’re being a little bit late’, and we want to fight now more than they do,” the US president said at an event with the Inter Miami football team at the White House.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC News on Thursday that the country was not asking for a ceasefire and that it had “never sent any messages to them”.
Trump said the US and Israeli militaries were continuing to “totally demolish the enemy, far ahead of schedule” and called on members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and military in the country to “lay down their arms”.
