David Morse Joins ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 5 As Production Starts


David Morse (“We Were Liars”) has joined the cast of Paramount+’s Taylor Sheridan-produced drama “Mayor of Kingstown” opposite stars Jeremy Renner and Edie Falco. Production has started on Season 5 of the series, which, as previously announced, will be the series’ final season.

Morse will play Russell Hardy, described as a “seasoned FBI agent sent to Kingstown.” The eight-episode final season will also star Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, and Derek Webster. Necar Zadegan, Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James are also back.

Here’s the logline for Season 5: “In the wake of Tracy’s murder and the vengeance visited upon Callahan by Mike (Renner) and Kyle (Taylor Handley), FBI agent Russell Hardy (Morse) arrives in Kingstown searching for the “fugitive” Callahan. A true lawman, Agent Hardy threatens to unearth all of Mike’s sins and secrets, and disrupt Kingstown’s tenuous balance of power.”

Morse’s credits also include both seasons of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” “The Chair,” “The Good Lord Bird,” “The Morning Show,” “The Deuce,” “Escape At Dannemora,” “Hack,” “Treme,” “True Detective,” “St. Elsewhere” and more. In film, he has the feature “Looking Through Water” and the upcoming “Mayday” and “Saturn Return.” Past films include “The Green Mile,” “16 Blocks,” “The Hurt Locker,” “World War Z” and “Concussion.” He earned Emmy noms for “House” and “John Adams,” and Tony Award nominations for his second run of “How I Learned To Drive” on Broadway and the 2018 revival of “The Iceman Cometh.”

Sheridan and Hugh Dillon co-created “Mayor of Kingstown,” from Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions. Executive producers are Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, Michael Slovis, Regina Corrado and Keith Cox. Erickson serves as showrunner for the series.
