Jessie J could’ve been on Broadway right now, but she sadly decided to turn down a high-profile role.
The 37-year-old singer revealed in a new interview with BBC Radio 2 that she got the part of Sally Bowles in the revival of Cabaret, but turned down the role because it wasn’t the right time for her.
“I recently just got offered a huge part on Broadway that I, I turned it down because it wasn’t the right time. Because my son was too young and I just couldn’t… I will do it at some point and it was an amazing audition process, and I was so proud that I got it,” she began.
Jessie then realized that she maybe should have kept quiet about the casting.
“Maybe I shouldn’t be talking about that, and it’s live. Can’t take it back now,” Jessie said before continuing to reveal even more details.

Jessie then confirmed, “It was Cabaret. To play Sally Bowles. I haven’t spoken about that. There’s an exclusive. And I was really grateful and I really wanted to do it. So if they hear this, it just wasn’t the right time. I just wanted to spend more time with my son and going to New York wasn’t the right time. But doing Broadway musicals, I wanna write one, it’s like my passion. I sometimes randomly find the videos of my audition on my phone and I’m like, ‘Ooof.’ Yeah, it’s a tough role.”
