Khloe Kardashian is facing backlash for calling Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass a “joke” in response to how she’s handled the devastating fires throughout the city.
This past weekend, Khloe shared a news story about Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley telling Fox 11 that the city failed the fire department because of recent budget cuts.
“I stand by YOU Chief Crowley!!!! You spoke the truth and you had tears in your eyes because I can tell you didn’t even want to say that but it was THE TRUTH. Thank you for being honest. Mayor Bass, you are a joke!!!!” Khloe wrote in her Instagram Stories.
People were quick to point out Khloe‘s own digression from just a couple years ago when Los Angeles was going through a drought, as it is right now.

It was reported in June 2022 that Khloe was fined for using more than her allotted water usage during a drought. Homes were restricted to watering their gardens just twice a week for eight minutes at a time during the drought.
Khloe reported used more than 101,000 gallons than she was supposed to use in just one month, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Kim Kardashian went over the limit by 232,000 gallons, according to the report. The 333,000 gallons they used over the allotted amount could fill half of an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Reports have stated that Kim and Khloe installed water-saving measures after they were fined.
Community actress Yvette Nicole Brown is among those who are calling out Khloe for her comments, which some are calling hypocritical. She wrote, “This is from 2022 when Los Angeles was in the midst of a drought. Every citizen was asked to conserve for the good of everyone else. Y’know because of fires? This is how some citizens responded to the ask. Is THIS a joke @khloekardashian?”
The Kardashians are among the celebs who evacuated their L.A. homes amid the Los Angeles fires.
