CBS has launched the new soap opera series Beyond the Gates and its off to a strong start in the TV ratings!
Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., and in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. Here you’ll find a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty.

Beyond the Gates is the first daytime drama to launch since Passions in 1999 and the new show is doing better numbers!

Deadline reports that Beyond the Gates‘ premiere episode was viewed by an average of 3 million viewers in Live+7-day viewing. Passions‘ first episode earned 2.96 million viewers.
The show had 2.28 million viewers in Live+3-day viewing, which was up 78 percent from daytime talk show series The Talk in the same time slot last year.
While the show was virtually tied with General Hospital‘s audience, the new CBS show had better ratings in the key demo of Adults 25-54.
The audience was 55% Black while The Young & the Restless‘ audience is 29% Black, The Bold & The Beautiful‘s audience is 30% Black, and General Hospital‘s audience is 22% Black.
