Brown and Houston were longtime sweethearts, first meeting in 1989 and marrying in 1992. Until their 2007 divorce, she stuck with the R&B hit-maker through rehab, arrests, car accidents, jail and more misbehavior (Brown has said there was infidelity on both sides).
“It was very therapeutic for my marriage, now, [to talk about being married to Whitney],” Brown, who’s been married to Alicia Etheredge since 2012, said on Biography. “It’s important to know what to do and what not to do. We have a great marriage. Whitney and I, we had a great run, and I want better for my life, you know?”
Houston once described herself as “what you call a functioning junkie,” so the endurance was never as one-sided as it seemed at times.
