“Fourth Wing” author Rebecca Yarros and Amazon’s Prime Video have confirmed last week’s report that the TV adaptation of her bestselling romantasy series had found its leads in Esther McGregor as Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya as Xaden Riorson.
“I’m so grateful to our producing and casting team for conducting a thorough, worldwide search to find Violet and Xaden,” Yarros said in a statement. “It will be incredibly exciting to see these talented actors, Esther and Emilio, bring our beloved characters to life on screen.”
Meredith Averill (“The Haunting of Hill House”) is set to adapt the books for TV as showrunner and executive producer. Kilter Films co-founder Lisa Joy is an executive producer on the series and directing the pilot.
“Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya are brilliant, magnetic actors,” said Joy. “We cannot wait for the world to see what they will do with these incredible characters.”
Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society are behind the “Fourth Wing” series, which will run exclusively on Prime Video. Here’s the logline: “In ‘Fourth Wing,’ Violet Sorrengail is forced by her mother to enter the brutal world of Basgiath War College. Based on the fantasy adventure from NYT bestselling author Rebecca Yarros, Violet joins hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.”

Besides Averill, “Fourth Wing” is also executive produced by author Yarros, Kilter Films (Joy, Jonathan Nolan and Athena Wickham), Outlier Society (Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo), and Premeditated Productions (Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark).
