But his most enduring and beloved role has been that of Principal Belding, with his signature refrain of, “Hey, hey, hey, what’s going on here?”
“Somebody told me the other day,” Haskins reflected in a 1991 interview with Channel 3, “they said, ‘You are going to be Mr. Belding to a whole generation of kids.’”
“I was just happy to have a job,” he quipped, before adding, “It’s been an incredible experience.”
And for those who worked with him, including the actress behind Lisa Turtle, their time on set will always be a fond memory.
“Knowing Dennis Haskins for almost 40 years,” Lark wrote on Instagram Sept. 29, “has been one of the truest blessings of my life, which makes losing him hurt so deeply. We shared so much history together from our earliest days, and through it all, he remained a fabulous person, a loyal friend, and someone with such a kind, gentle heart.”
