Kids have a way with words.
And for anyone keeping score, Ben Affleck’s kids—Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner—currently have the advantage.
“My kids are talking at dinner and they, you know, they’ll talk about their friends and the drama and the relationships,” Affleck told Jimmy Kimmel during his Sept. 24 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “And I have some lived experience. So, I think that’s worth sharing some lessons that I, you know, these are the kind of things we give to our children.”
“I said, ‘Well the thing about that relationship there, with that person is—,’” The Accountant star added, “and the 17-year-old just turns to me and goes, ‘Oh, like you’re the expert on relationships?’”
The jab earned a laugh from Kimmel and the seated audience, as well as a good-natured chuckle from Affleck himself, whose Hollywood dating history has been much talked about over the years. After all, prior to his 13-year marriage to Garner, Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were engaged, only to break it off before trying again almost 20 years later.
Just to get divorced two years later.
