Canadian electronic musician Deadmau5 has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation in all areas across music, film, television, digital content, gaming and technology and intellectual property.
The artist legally known as Joel Zimmerman is “a once-in-a-generation creative force who represents exactly where we believe the entertainment business is going — the intersection of music, technology, content and ownership,” said IAG CEO Jim Osborne and president Kyle Loftus in a said in a statement touting the signing.
“He has been ahead of the curve for his entire career, from the way he approaches live production and streaming to gaming, software and digital experiences. Music will always be the center of what he does, but the opportunity here goes well beyond music. We look forward to bringing the full resources of IAG to help Joel expand his ideas and intellectual property across film, television, digital and other platforms while continuing to grow his global music business,” the pair said.
Deadmau5 was previously with CAA. In moving to IAG, the artist said he plans to reinvent his existing businesses and creative properties like digital interview series “Coffee Run” and Oberhasli Games, a video game company; Auto/Pilot, his live-performance software platform designed for creative mixing, real-time arrangement, sampling, sequencing and automation.
“IAG’s proven track record of creating exciting crossover content creation and ownership opportunities for musical artists is what attracted me to them,” Zimmerman said. “As my business continues to evolve across touring, music, technology and new ventures, I’m excited to partner with a team that understands our goals and objectives and can help us build what’s next.”
The EDM veteran began releasing music in 2005 and has been a major figure in the electronic music circuit for decades. He also has been an outspoken advocate for artist rights and ownership. His Mau5trap label has released music by such artists as Skrillex, Rezz, Noisia, Feed Me and i_o.
In March 2025, he sold his song catalog and his Mau5trap label to Create Music Group in a deal valued at more than $55 million. This deal included the sound recordings and copyrights of more than 4,000 songs as well as the formation of a joint venture to release future recordings by Deadmau5 and from Mau5trap.
Deadmau5 continues to be repped by manager Dean Wilson (Circuit Group/Seven20) and attorney Dina LaPolt.
