The upcoming Netflix drama “The Roman” has added five new cast members, Variety has learned.
The show, which is set in the world of Las Vegas casinos, has cast Vincent D’Onofrio (“Daredevil: Born Again,” “The Beauty”) and Kate Mara (“A Teacher,” “Imperfect Women”) in series regular roles. Clancy Brown (“I Will Find You,” “The Penguin”) and Thomas Sadoski (“The Newsroom,” “Wild”) will recur, with Jascon Schwartzman (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” “Asteroid City”) will appear in a guest star role.
Full character descriptions can be found below.
The new additions join series lead Oscar Isaac and fellow cast members Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin, David Costabile, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Jimmy O. Yang.
The logline for the eight-episode series states:
“An hour-long drama set in the high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business, which is a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city. At the center of which stands Robert “Bobby Red” Redman (Isaac), president of the hottest hotel casino in town, who has to make some long odds moves to try and secure his position and take more ground.”
Brian Koppelman and David Levien are writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Isaac will executive produce in addition to starring via Mad Gene. Martin Scorsese and Sikelia Productions also executive produce along with Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn for Expanded Media, Paul Schiff, and Beth Schacter. Kerry Orent will co-executive produce. JC Chandor will direct the first two episodes and executive produce.

Schwartzman will play David Krupp. A clean-cut heir and “freshwater fish” whose mounting casino debts thrust him into the high-pressure crosshairs of the Las Vegas elite.
