A quality day of racing awaits, with action from Ascot, Chester and Worcester all LIVE on Sky Sports Racing.
2.35 Ascot – Flann Sunna and Peaceful Warrior among strong field
This Knight Frank Conditions Stakes at Ascot looks a belter with Flann Sunna and Peaceful Warrior among a trio of previous winners.
Kevin Ryan’s Peaceful Warrior showed greenness when making a winning start at Yarmouth and, with further improvement likely, he rates an obvious player despite shouldering the penalty.
The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Flann Sunna scored comfortably on his debut at Windsor – scooting clear in the final furlong. He must be feared if able to build on that under Jack Mitchell.
Persazz made a striking debut at Ripon and cannot be ruled out, while Mysterious Times just failed at Newmarket and granted a smoother passage he looks a huge danger in the Godolphin blue. Washington Royale could only manage fourth on debut but could trouble the judge.
7.00 Chester – Recent winners Gonna Fly and Infraad fancied
A competitive ESL Export Handicap sees the in-form Gonna Fly and Infraad lock horns over 10 furlongs.
Ralph Beckett fields Gonna Fly, who took his tally to two wins from three starts when making all at Windsor and, given that he was pitched into Group company on just his second start, he is likely to have further improvement now entering handicaps. He is proven over the trip.
Infraad was beaten on his first two outings but bounced back with a dominant display in a Pontefract novice. He makes plenty of appeal on his handicap debut under Harry Davies, who is no stranger to Roodee glory having bagged two Chester Cups in recent years.
Hugo Palmer has won this prize on three of the past four years and saddles each-way chances Nolton Cross and Patagonia Girl, whilst Zgharta could feature having been dropped 2lbs to a mark of 86.
6.41 Worcester – In-form Our Guide bids for the four-timer
The red-hot Our Guide headlines a field of seven assembled for this Amodil Group Handicap Hurdle at Worcester.
Jamie Snowden’s charge arrives in cracking form, having landed his last three outings – including when defying a rating of 118 on handicap debut over this course and distance last month. A 4lb rise seems fair and he ought to go close under Gavin Sheehan.
Top weight American Mike heads the opposition for Olly Murphy. He finished a narrow second at this venue last time and a bold bid is expected down in trip.
The James Owen team having been having success on the Flat and over Jumps lately and today saddle Dream Diamond, who would have won at Newton Abbot last time out were it not for a stumble when close home.
Best of the rest
Ya Karim could be the one to beat in Ascot’s Jll Handicap at 3.10pm, although Crown Office and Ciarrai Abu are also likely contenders in recognisable colours.
The Shadwell silks are donned by Morbeh in the 3.45pm Long Harbour Handicap at the same venue, with Roger Varian’s charge out to complete the hat-trick with Ray Dawson booked. He is now off a mark of 85 having been hit with a 9lb rise since his visit to Chester last month. Gatehouse could be his primary rival, with Seagolazo also likely to run well for Hugo Palmer.
Another horse seeking three consecutive triumphs is the William Haggas-trained Hoseki. Somerville Lodge’s runner goes for Ascot’s 4.23pm Newmark EBF Fillies’ Handicap but will be wary of the threat posed by Folk Pageant. Charlie Johnston’s horse found the Golden Gates Stakes too big of a task but could bounce back in calmer waters.
