We have a busy day’s racing on Tuesday with flat action from Brighton, Wolverhampton and Uttoxeter, live on Sky Sports Racing…
3.00 Uttoxeter – Sunray Shadow looks to complete four-timer
The in-form Sunray Shadow will look to complete the four-timer in the CopyBet Support Safer Gambling Handicap Hurdle this afternoon under Harry Skelton for his brother Dan.
He secured a quickfire hat-trick within a month, starting at Huntingdon in May and then two wins at Worcester saw his rating rocket from 113 to 125. He looks to have been laid out for a successful run this summer as the Skeltons chase Martin Pipe’s all-time winners record for one season.
Having enjoyed a successful stint on the Point-to-Point circuit, Stumps Or Slips comes here looking to back up two wins at Chepstow and Exeter in April. Polly Gundry has recruited the services of Sean Bowen as she looks to keep the winning run going.
Hat-trick seeker Abbey Scope comes here for the Nicky Richards team looking to defy a career-high mark but couldn’t arrive in much better form, having got the better of a subsequent winner in good style last time out, and should not be dismissed lightly.
Champagne Twist was once rated 134 at his peak, after winning a valuable handicap on Imperial Cup Day in 2024 and could be dangerous off 120 with Callum Pritchard taking over the ride.
5.10 Wolverhampton – Intriguing Asuka returns after almost two years
Asuka returns to the track in the Wolverhampton opener, with 10 going to post for the Free Digital Racecard At raceday-ready.com Novice Stakes.
The now-gelded son of Night Of Thunder is a half-brother to Cambridgeshire winner Boiling Point and hasn’t been seen since an exciting win on debut at Newmarket in August of 2024, when he stormed clear to win by just under five lengths. Now back on the track two years later, he warrants respect and carries intrigue to see if the ability remains.
Rogue Invincible is bred to be useful and took a big step forward for his first run, going down by a nose after a sustained duel up the Wetherby straight. He represents an in-form team and could give Asuka plenty to think about if able to take another step forward and given the weight concession.
Tyrant Gg also has just the two starts to his name and showed a lot of promise when chasing home a smart rival over this trip at Kempton back in May. Oisin Murphy takes over the reins and another big run couldn’t be ruled out.
7.20 Brighton – Dion Baker and Prefer The Sister clash
Dion Baker and Prefer The Sister clash in the Watch Live Racing On fairplaybet.co.uk Handicap on a six-race card at Brighton.
Dion Baker, who chases his fourth win at Brighton, comes here off the back of a win at Yarmouth just five days ago and races here effectively four-pound well in as he doesn’t have to carry the penalty for that success. Darragh Keenan keeps the ride and another bold show is expected.
Prefer The Sister bolted up over course and distance last week, winning by just under six lengths and, like Dion Baker, is expected to rise in the weights but escapes her penalty today.
Kondratiev Wave is a three-time course scorer and comes here in decent enough form with two seconds to his name in his last four starts, with his last win coming in February at Lingfield. He looks well-placed to threaten the big two here this evening.
Best of the rest
