‘Nemesis’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

Netflix has renewed the crime drama “Nemesis” for Season 2, Variety has learned.

The series originally debuted on the streamer in May. It spent five weeks in the Netflix global top 10 English language TV charts, reaching the number one spot in its second week of availability.

“Season two, we’re very grateful to have it… We’re going to make sure those questions get answered — and even more questions are available for you to answer,” said series co-creator and executive producer Tani Marole. “Make no mistakes, season two is going to be bigger and better.”

“Nemesis” stars Matthew Law, Y’lan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, and Jeff Pierre. Guest stars in Season 1 included Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein, Chris Bauer

“I feel blessed to get a season two,” said showrunner, creator, and executive producer Courtney A. Kemp. “We thank the fans…it’s because of them — there’s no other reason. It’s them showing up, them talking about it and their huge social media response,” said series We are grateful to Netflix for recognizing the power of our audience and bringing us back for the fans.”

The official logline for the series states:

“‘Nemesis’ is the story of two men on either side of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal (Noel)) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective (Law)). What starts as a crime series amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes and explosive action drives deeper to explore family, marriage, and personal identity— that which drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.”

As mentioned, both Kemp and Marole are executive producers on the series, with Kemp executive producing under her End of Episode banner. Chris Selak of End of Episode also executive produces, as does Philipp Barnett. Mario Van Peebles directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Millicent Shelton, Rob Hardy, and Ruben Garcia directed two episodes each in Season 1.

“Courtney and Tani have built something truly special with ‘Nemesis’ — a show that captivated audiences and never let go,” said Nne Ebong, Netflix VP of Studio Scripted Series, UCAN. “Watching the global response has been extraordinary; this series resonated with fans in a way that was electric and far-reaching. Their vision, craft, and passion are unmatched, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this journey with them into Season 2.”
