‘Little House on the Prairie’ Stars Share the Major Way the Show Stayed True to the Books
The Little House on the Prairie is getting a big renovation.
Ahead of the Netflix adaptation of the beloved Laura Ingalls Wilder novels—which were originally turned into a TV series in 1974— cast members Luke Bracey, Alice Halsey, Crosby Fitzgerald and Skywalker Hughes reflected on how the new series expands beyond the source material.
“We want this to be an extension of the Little House world,” Halsey, who plays protagonist Laura Ingalls, told E! News Will Marfuggi in an exclusive interview. “You can love the books and the old series and hopefully you love ours too.”
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald, who plays mom Caroline, emphasized that the new series—which hits Netflix July 9—provides even more context to what was going on outside of the Little House.
“I think this does a really fun job of adapting the books pretty closely and then also using history and this vast view of the American West at that time,” she explained. “I think we have fun with that and I think people are going to like that.”
