‘Chicken Shop Date’ Host Amelia Dimoldenberg Expands Dimz Inc. Academy

“Chicken Shop Date” host and producer Amelia Dimoldenberg is expanding her Dimz Inc. Academy in its second year, with the goal of opening doors for the next generation of creative talent.

This year, Dimz Inc. Academy is extending to a four-week free program and will offer paid work placements, industry mentoring and hands-on experience to young creatives in the field of digital media. Open to London-based young adults between 18 and 24 years old, Dimz Inc. Academy aims to “create meaningful pathways into the creative industries for young people who may not otherwise have access to them,” according to a press release. The initiative is inspired by Dimoldenberg’s own journey, as “Chicken Shop Date” first started as a column for a youth magazine in North London.

The program was developed in partnership with U.K. youth organization Spiral Skills and will also be supported by Adobe for the first time this year. “Participants will gain practical skills, industry knowledge and real-world experience across every stage of the creative process, from developing ideas and pitching concepts through to production, editing and showcasing original work, while becoming part of a supportive creative community built to continue long after the program ends,” the release continues.

At the end of the program — taking place in August — each participant will receive a guaranteed work placement, mentoring and career support from Spiral Skills and access to the Dimz Inc. alumni network, in addition to a £300 ($400) bursary.

“Creative industries are full of talented young people who often just need someone to open the door. I was fortunate enough to have opportunities that allowed me to experiment, learn and build confidence early on,” said Dimoldenberg, who was recently honored on our inaugural Power of Women U.K. Impact List. “Dimz Inc. Academy is about creating those opportunities for others, helping young people develop practical skills, build meaningful connections and take their first steps into careers they may never have thought were accessible to them. I’m so excited to partner with Spiral Skills and be supported by Adobe for this second year.”

Applications for this summer’s Dimz Inc. Academy are now open here.
