Nicholas Galitzine to Play Supermodel Hoyt Richards in New Gus Van Sant Movie

Nicholas Galitzine will play male model Hoyt Richards in a new movie from director Gus Van Sant.

Plot details haven’t been confirmed, though Richards is known for becoming the world’s first male supermodel — jet-setting across the globe to pose for fashion houses including Versace, Ralph Lauren and Burberry. Richards, currently 64, is the subject of a new HBO documentary, “Bring Me the Beauties.” The three-part series chronicles how Richards became ensnared in — and gave millions of dollars to — a doomsday cult called Eternal Values, which was led by Friedrich von Mierers and preyed on young male models.

The role marks another chance for Galitzine to break out the blonde hair dye. He recently rocked long, flaxen locks and flexed his leading man chops in “Masters of the Universe” as Prince Adam a.k.a. He-Man. The Canadian actor broke out in Amazon’s romantic comedy “Red, White and Royal Blue” and also starred in Amazon’s “Cinderella” remake opposite Camila Cabello and Netflix’s “Purple Hearts.” Up next, Galitzine will appear in the “Red, White and Royal Blue” sequel, “Red, White and Royal Wedding,” as well as director Pete Berg’s WWII-set sports drama “The Mosquito Bowl.”

Van Sant is best known for “My Own Private Idaho,” the Sean Penn-led historical drama “Milk” and “Good Will Hunting,” which launched the careers of then-20-somethings Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. He most recently directed “Dead Man’s Wire,” a crime drama starring Bill Skarsgård as an aspiring small-town entrepreneur-turned-outlaw folk hero.
