The HBO Max pilot “How to Survive Without Me” has added four new actors in guest roles, Variety has learned exclusively.
Kevin Changaris (“Succession”), Pressley Hosbach (“Erin & Aaron”), Dar Zuzovsky (“Vanished”), and Sofía Rodríguez-Toymil have all joined the pilot.
They join previously announced cast members: Ray Romano, Joshua Jackson, Kaley Cuoco, Julia Schlaepfer, Jack Ball, Kylar Miranda, Julian Grey, Scarlett Abinante, Tommy Dewey, Matthew Kellison, Colette Porch, Ella Rubin, and Rita Wilson. Previously announced guest cast are: Genevieve Angelson, Joe Romano, Richard Blackmon, Katie Aselton, Katie Monds and Will Yun Lee.
The logline for “How to Survive Without Me” states, “Logline: In the wake of matriarch Beverly’s (Wilson) passing, the De Angelis family have begun to drift, unsure how to manage their complicated, evolving lives without her guidance, but in true Beverly fashion, she found a way to keep running the show from the beyond. Should they wish to experience Beverly’s final work, the family must find the time — and make the effort — to remain connected and be there for each other through all of life’s challenges yet to come.”
Changaris will play Todd Henderson. Todd is said to be “one of Kate’s (Cuoco) clients, an entertainment lawyer with a golf tan who thinks he’s fun. Todd claims to be happily married but secretly hits on Liz (Schlaepfer).”
Hosbach will play Madison. She is said to be, “Polite and on time, Madison is the nanny for Cary’s (Ball) and Luis’ (Miranda) children. She makes a strong first impression but has unrealistic expectations that fail to account for the unpredictable behavior of children.”
Zuzovsky will play Maya. The character is described as “Cute and flirty, Maya is casually involved with Cooper (Jackson) who is also the chef at the restaurant where she works as a waitress. Despite the taboo nature of their relationship, Maya’s perceptive nature allows her to understand Cooper in a way that surprises him.”
Rodríguez-Toymil will play Zara, “one of Leo’s (Ray Romano) and Cary’s business management clients who is a multi-millionaire popstar and financially illiterate.”
Changaris is repped by 3 Arts. Hosbach is repped by Arise Talent and Slash Management. Zuzovsky is repped by Markham, Froggatt and Irwin, Principal Entertainment and Goodman Genow. Rodríguez-Toymil is repped by Principal Entertainment.
“How to Survive Without Me” hails from writers Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran with a story by Berlanti, Doran, and Robbie Rogers. Berlanti, Doran, and Rogers are all executive producers on the pilot along with Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions. WBTV, where Berlanti Productions is under an overall deal, is the studio.
