Vincent Cassel to Voice Napoleon Bonaparte

Vincent Cassel, who will star in the fourth season of HBO’s “The White Lotus,” is set to play Napoleon Bonaparte in the upcoming first-person Soulslike video game “Valor Mortis.”

Per the game’s description, “Set in a supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe, Valor Mortis casts players as William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande Armée who wields both Napoleonic-era weaponry and devastating supernatural powers.”

The game is set to launch Sept. 24 for PS5, Xbox Series S and X (day one on Xbox Game Pass), and for PC via Steam.

In a new trailer for “Valor Mortis,” which was unveiled Sunday during Xbox Games Showcase, Cassel’s Napoleon makes his first appearance in the game. It features William and his Emperor, Napoleon, as he warns William of his newfound abilities and poses a question to players: what would you sacrifice for power?

The star of titles including “La Haine (Hate),” for which he received two César Award nominations, “Irréversible,” and “Mesrine,” English-speaking audiences will best know Cassel from HBO’s “Westworld,” as well as “Elizabeth,” “Shrek,” “Ocean’s Twelve” and “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Eastern Promises,” “Black Swan,” and “Jason Bourne.”

“Valor Mortis” is developed by Kraków-based studio One More Level and published by Lyrical Games, a subsidiary of Lyrical Media.

Lyrical Media, which launched its game division in 2025, has an upcoming film slate that includes Michael Sarnoski’s “The Death of Robin Hood,” starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, Osgood Perkins’ “The Young People” and Adam Wingard’s action-thriller film “Onslaught” with A24.
